Hodder Huts Access Information

Note that the Huts will not be available from Mon 23rd Feb to Friday 27th Feb 2026  due to maintenance 


  •  All visitors are required to obtain an Access Number for permission to use the  Marlborough Tramping Club huts and facilities.  (18 hut spaces available plus tenting)
  • Do not not ot leave it until the last minute to apply for your access number. Our administrators are volunteers - please allow at the very least 48 hours  for us to reply before your departure  from home.   ​​​​​​​
  • Dogs are not permitted on the farm track access, or in and around the immediate confines of the Hodder  Huts
  • This is not a marked route and you need  reasonable navigation skills.   Some cairns noted in the guide may not be still in place after heavy rains etc.     Map  is       BS27 Tapuae-o-Uenuku
  • Firstly, apply for your Access Number by emailing hodderhuts@gmail.com and provide the  following information:

    Name  -  Address  -  Phone/mobile no  -

    Names of people in your party  -

    Dates of trip -

   Number of nights staying at the huts -

   Rego No and make of your vehicle that will be parked at Gladstone Downs  

  (Important info required in the unlikely event of needing to call in SAR)

   Please also advise if you will be carrying a PLB 


  The numbered access form will be emailed back to you as soon as possible and

   your  number should  be displayed on the dashboard of your vehicle.  

   When you receive your access number please read the document thoroughly.   


 Payment  details will be on  the reply email and also your access form. 

 Cancellations must  be notified. 


  • Secondly, contact the landowners Bev and Allan Pitts of Gladstone Downs (03 575 7471) to obtain permission for access across their land. Quote your Huts Access number and also advise them of any changes to Rego details of the vehicle that you will leave in the parking area so they can check that parties have safely returned from the mountain.  


   The Pitts family,  are the best people to give advice on up todate Hodder

   river  conditions.
